Robert E. Kennedy Library

Shortly after being hired as a student assistant at the Robert E. Kennedy Library, I worked as part of a three-person team tasked with completely rethinking the library’s online presence. This involved all new information architecture, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for several thousand static pages, a dozen internal web applications on varying platforms, and a few externally-hosted web applications. We reworked the entire structure of the site to help students and professors find the information they need faster with less frustration.

I created several rounds of design comps and mockups that eventually turned into the approved design. I then took the final design and implemented it as a fully accessible and cross-browser compatible site within a matter of weeks (despite working only part-time).

In late 2008, I rewrote the CSS from the ground up to use a new column-based CSS framework and to improve the typography. I also created a small library of reusable and gracefully-degrading JavaScript-based interface widgets (tabbed panels, scrolling timelines, and more).
